Change of Portability regulation rights due to Brexit
The EU Portability Regulation allows customers across the European Economic Area (EEA) to access their online content when travelling abroad even if they are not in the country they reside in as long as it’s in the EEA. This means that customers could have the same content as they do at home when they are temporarily present in another EU country. The regulation applies only to travel between EEA countries. Cross-border portability from 23rd December 2020 will be revoked in the UK. This means that the EU Portability Regulation will not apply to UK-EEA travel from 1 January 2021
Why can’t I watch UK content from Europe anymore?
Due to the United Kingdom leaving the EU the rights for portability have changed. This means UK customers can still access Eurosport as they usually would at home. However, when watching abroad you will only be able to view local content for the country you’re visiting. Your UK content will not be available to watch when visiting a European country.
